A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT:

The Esquimalt Speed Skating Club was started in 1966 by its founder Jim Shields, at the Esquimalt Arena, in Victoria B.C. It was the first of its kind on the west coast and till this day is still the only Speed Skating Club on Vancouver Island. The Esquimalt Speed Skating Club has a rich and respected history among the Canadian Speed Skating community. Jim Shields love and dedication to speed skating for over 25 years developed a club that encourages kids young and old to experience the fun and excitement of competitive Speed Skating. The Esquimalt Speed Skating Club has enjoyed the success of skaters who have competed at the World Championships, been members of Canada's National Teams and won Canadian and North American Championships at both Long Track and Short Track speed skating.
